Ecommerce Page Speed and Web Performance Report

Radware tested page load speed for the top 500 retail sites and found the median load time to be 10 seconds. Talk about poor user experience! Most online shoppers will abandon a page that takes longer than 3 seconds to load. Even worse, the study showed this is a 62% slow down in page load speed over the past 2 years.

Lack of image optimization is one of the top perpetrators for slow page speed. As website design trends lean more towards full width screens and large impact images, it’s more important than ever to optimize image size. Radware found that a typical webpage is 20% bigger than it was 6 months ago, and 34% of pages tested did not compress images.

Site speed plays a huge role in user experience. It is also important to evaluate when building mobile websites. Use free tools such as Google PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix to test the page load times of your site.
