Cellara Chooses Acumium for Custom Software Development

Acumium Helps Cellara Make Custom Software Solution Idea a Reality

Cellara was created around the vision of accelerating stem cell discoveries by empowering scientists to work more efficiently and share knowledge across the stem cell community. Cellara recognized the need to improve the stem cell research process. Research labs that deal with stem cell cultures, while at the cutting edge of their areas of research, are still often tracking their activity and outcomes in paper notebooks. This makes it painstakingly laborious to do follow up on the research across projects, as scientists have to manually scan pages of notebooks for different cell line projects.

In order to solve this industry problem, the team at Cellara created a system for capturing and searching culture data, managing protocols and training that can enable scientists to get more from the research work that they are doing.

Acumium partnered with Cellara to help turn that idea of a system for planning, tracking and reporting on stem cell culture projects into a custom software application. The project began by guiding Cellara through a discovery process and then working together to design and plan their application. The two companies will work together on implementing the solution, and testing it with alpha, beta and production releases.

In addition to helping track progress and record results, the system offers the benefit of allowing researchers to readily identify patterns of outcomes with cell culturing projects that can lead to improvements in subsequent investigation.

“This company was started with the goal of creating a platform that would improve stem cell research by helping stem cell scientists conduct their research in a more efficient way,” says Scott Fulton, CEO of Cellara, “Acumium has been a great help in making that goal a reality.”

Dan Costello, Founder and CEO of Acumium, adds, “It’s very gratifying to be selected as the development partner on a project that really has the potential to contribute to progress in health science.”
