Lead UX Designer Excited to Share Knowledge with UX Madison Community
Earlier this month, Caroline Sober-James, Acumium’s Lead User Experience Designer, was selected to speak at the 2015 Madison+ UX Conference, July 10-11, 2015, at the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison, Wisconsin.
Caroline’s talk, How to Write UX Specs That Make Developers Swoon, will address how UX designers can foster more productive relationships with an important and often underserved audience: their developers. Caroline brings a unique “insider” perspective to this topic. Before coming to Acumium, she spent eight years in server-side software development, where she often observed a disconnect between what developers received from designers and what they needed to execute well on the design vision. She’s looking forward to talking about common challenges in the designer/developer relationship and offering some ideas to help UX professionals create specs that allow developers to implement designs more efficiently, with fewer cycles and less frustration.
This will be Caroline’s first time speaking at Madison+ UX. When asked about the event, she said, “I feel strongly about what I’m attempting to do with this talk. UX professionals are often very focused on servicing external customers and end users, which is obviously critical. That said, it’s important to think of your internal team as customers, as well, and make sure they have what they need to be successful.”
She hopes her talk will give UX professionals a new perspective on the importance of a healthy designer/developer relationship, and renewed focus on how they can service both internal and external customers for the ultimate benefit of the end product.
Madison+ UX is a two day, one-track conference that is all about everything UX. It is designed for both UX professionals and those who are just UX-curious. It offers a mix of technical and non-technical content, and provides everyone with a great experience and taste of both the local fun and professional sides of Madison.
